Can Christian Get Tattoo? You Asking Is Already An Issue | Mom Fears God

Leviticus 19:28
"Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD."

I've noticed that many Christians are becoming more focused on 'worldly' religious practices rather than having a genuine relationship with Christ. Some of them display their faith through tattoos, similar to how Catholics wear crosses. However, it's important to question whether these outward symbols truly reflect a sincere and meaningful connection with Christ. It is also important to remember that the decision to modify one's body through tattoos is a personal choice and not a directive from God.

You might be asking 'Other Christian are getting a Tattoo, why can't I do it?

Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

 1 John 2:15-16:
"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world."

Please don't copy others who think getting a tattoo is a good thing. It's like Christians celebrating Halloween and wearing an angel costumes, saying "I didn't dress like a demon, so it's okay," while still enjoying this demonic celebration.

Before deciding to get a tattoo, it's crucial to consult the Holy Spirit within you and ask, "Am I allowed to have a tattoo?" We shouldn't solely rely on our own understanding but seek God's guidance and wisdom in all our decisions.

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

The Bible doesn't mention any prophets who had or allowed tattoos. We should remember that the Bible is God's word and we need to follow its teachings. If the Bible says something is wrong, we should listen and obey because God knows what is best for us.

1 Peter 3:3-4
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

Don't get a tattoo just for looks. God values the goodness within you, not your outward appearance. Tattoos seek human approval, not God's. To impress God, share the Gospel and live a faithful life. Those who truly fear the Lord and serve Him will be noticed, not those who only display tattoos and claim to be proud Christians.

To have a true relationship with Jesus, we must align our mindset with his teachings. Simply professing to be a Christian is not enough. Our thoughts and actions should reflect our faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we live by faith, not by sight."

If you try to seek acknowledgment from men by showing that you are a Christian, Jesus will NOT acknowledge you. Don't be a lukewarmer.

Matthew 7:22-23
On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

"Worker of lawlessness", that was what Jesus said. The Bible is the Law, you as a Christian should follow all of it without question, if not you are one of the lawlessness. Don't just cherry-pick to satisfy yourself or misinterpret the word, changing the meaning of the law of the bible for your own desire of the flesh would remove yourself from the book of life.

Revelation 22:18-19
"For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

Don't you know that tattoos have been associated with pagan beliefs and practices throughout history. Different cultures and belief systems have used tattoos for various purposes, including spiritual or religious significance. It's important to be aware of these historical and cultural contexts when considering the meaning and implications of getting a tattoo.

You getting a tattoo even if it's a cross, you are actually following the practices of the nations.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12
“When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

You may say "But we don't practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer", it's just tattoos symbolizing my belief in Christ.

Let's speak of Mayans. Tattoos among the ancient Mayans often had a spiritual or religious significance, as they were believed to establish a connection with their gods. (sounds familiar now?)

The Mayans viewed tattooing as a way to communicate with the spiritual realm and to honor their deities. The tattoo designs often featured symbols and images associated with their gods and spiritual beliefs, serving as a form of devotion and reverence. Tattoos were considered a means of expressing their faith and strengthening their connection to the divine.

Again let me bring back the bible verse.

Deuteronomy 18:9
When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.

What more proof should I give for you to stop getting tattoos?

Another bible verse that speaks about our temple which is our body that God will destroy the person if you "choose" to destroy your own body on purpose.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17
"Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honour God with your bodies."

Look at it this way at the photo below. A sample of our body pure and as how God sees us.

And this is you, choosing to add ink onto it. Doesn't matter if it's small, you shouldn't be doing with the body that God has given you.

Love your body as how God love you. Don't damage your temple just so you show your faith towards others. Isn't speaking about the Gospel is better than showing it on your body?

Is it still forgivable?

Of course it is! Even you have a tattoo now, God will still forgive you. Just realize what you did is wrong and stop doing it. Repent and be born again.

Matthew 16:24
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'"
